Week 11--- FLEW BY (Nov 24, 2014)

This was a super fast, great week. The days are dwindling of me being a trainee and I am nervous to no longer have that as an excuse haha :) no I am excited for this new change!

Monday- Our computers were down at the church so we had to go to do it at the Library. We did shopping, got somethings done around the apartment, and then went to the SAB. It's just the Stake Assembly Building where a lot of the missionaries meet. We played this fun soccer game, but a different type and it is just fun getting to see all of them. Came home and at dinner at home. Then headed to the Curridens for FHE. We did like 15 min of tracting before and met this super nice lady named Carrie. She works for the News station so was busy but said she would love to have us over again. She was very welcoming and we are excited about her.

Tuesday- Met with a less-active and we actually got something out of him so we know where to head with him. Met with some Investigators (I), Paul and Melissa who are soo awesome. We always just discuss what he is reading in the B of M and his questions. He asks questions I don't even think of so it gets me thinking. Met with FRAN who had a surprise for us.. SHE got work off and is coming to church! YAY. Dinner at the Andersons who are one of my favorites. They are awesome and soo fun. 4 crazy little boys. Met with an (I) Javier and the lesson went great. We taught the Restoration and he seemed very interested and was very in tune with the spirit.

Wednesday- Met with Kathy and Kiel some (I) and the lesson was great. We shared a Mormon Message and they loved it. They are waiting for her husband to come home to see if he is interested in the church and if not they basically said they still would! The house the husband has been working on sold so he should be coming home soon! Had lunch at Rockys ( a yummy fried chicken place) with Frank. He is sooo nice and always takes us out to eat. Had a lesson with him and he is just great. Met with Jeff and taught the Law of Chastity.. My first time teaching it and it was a little rough but it is okay hah. Lesson with Mary Ellen (I) and it was the Restoration. She asked lots of questions which is good.

Thursday- Weekly planning and then were supposedly having lunch with a less active and Sister Hobson, a member. Well apparently lunch wasn't part of it so we just had a lesson with a less active. She is a very unique personality haha. Met with Lori a less active and the lesson was on Joseph Smith. It was great! Met with Lisa and Leah and they are moving.. Lisa is an (I) so we may have to switch her over to someone else.. All the same though where ever they go ha. Annarummas, the family we have been teaching, DROPPED us out of the blue. We are still seeing what happened there because they are so great and don't know what happened. Had a Relief Society Christmas party and it was soo fun. FRAN came to that and just loved it. We had dinner, 2 short talks, a cute song, and then everyone brought cookies and at the end you went and grabbed 12 cookies and put it on the plate. the plate had a cute poem on it saying "Bake it forward." really cute idea. It was so fun. Went to meet some potentials from a Refferal and they were great!  Cute young couple and he LOVES Glen Beck so he heard about the B of M. It was an awesome lesson and they were so nice.

Friday- District meeting is always fun. It was on tracting and how to talk with people, because I get awkward lots of times haha. Still working on that. Anyway lots of our appt. cancelled but we were able to tract and find some people. Met with Jeff and it was a very spiritual lesson and a lot of progress was made.

Saturday- Met with JACKSON. a media refferal, so it comes up on our phone. He is a 20 year old guy and goes to college during the week and comes home on the weekends. It was the coolest lesson I have had on my mission so far. He is so nice and wants to find the truth so bad. He has already talked to missionaries online and wanted a B of M. We taught the restoration and he said he already believes Joseph Smith was a prophet. Can you say GOLDEN investigator. Anyways the spirit was soo strong and was just such a cool experience. He already accepted a baptismal date! Anyway he was the highlight of the day.. We did some tracting and walked up to these 2 guys and say were missionaries for the Church of... He was like no way I am too! I am looking for 2 more wives. I was like you have got to be kidding me in my head ha. Anyway they were pretty rude/just trying to be funny. Anyway no luck there. Another lady we went to knock on and she yells through her house "No trespassing." So we start walking away and she turns her car alarm on! GEEZ people. So that was great haha. We meet with Jeff again and it was a great lesson. He is progressing very well and has a baptismal date too. Met with one of my favorites, Lori :) She is a Recent Convert and is a crack up. She is the first lesson I had on my mission so I think she will always be a favorite.

Sunday- Church was good, Jeff, Fran, Kathy and Kiel, and Kathy's HUSBAND Dan came!!! So exciting. So it was great seeing all of them. Found out our Relief Society president has been moved to a different ward :( Rain hard all day. Met with a Recent Convert and had dinner at a members. Went to bed right when I got home because I did NOT feel good.

It was a super good week and we have some exciting people to teach. Thanks for all the letters, support, emails, and prayers! It means a lot. I love you all and hope you have a great THANKSGIVING.

Love,

Sister Farmer

Week 10? (Nov 17, 2014)

This was an awesome week, with lots of success!!

Monday, the rest of the day we shopped and cleaned the apartment, nothing too exciting! Then we had Exchanges where you switch with another companionship. I left and went to Waynesville with a Sister Training leader, Sister Goates. She is awesome. We drove there, had dinner hour, I had grilled cheese and tomato soup, it was delicious! Then we just got talking and she helped me figure some things out and we did daily planning for tomorrow!

Tuesday,Waynesville! It was good! Nice because it wasn't my area so I just went to the appointments and did my best! We had like 5 appts. with Investigators and Sister Goates said I was awesome at teaching and using my scriptures so that was uplifting :) We went to dinner at a Japanese restaurant and then we had dinner at a different restaurant and I had chicken strips. Basically I am having too many people take me out haha. It is awesome! :) But I am gaining! Anyway so the day was filled and successful! It was awesome teaching because I didn't know the people and my goal was to teach by the spirit this exchange, and Sister Goates said I asked some really inspired questions.

Wednesday, we had our studies and training and talked with Sister Goates again with anything she can help me with, she gave me some awesome talks that I think can help me! Back to Asheville! Taught Jeff and it was on the Word of Wisdom! He is going to work on that and it was an awesome lesson!! Dinner at my favorite Restaurant I think, Tupelo Honey, it is so good! Sister Gomes took us and it was way good! We taught with a recent convert and some PFT time and ended with Connor and Savannah! They came out on Team-ups with us and we saw them like every day! Awesome member misisonaries :)

Thursday we taught Fran, also during exchanges apparently all of our lessons went awesome so that is exciting! Anyway Fran is doing great and her biggest hurdle is getting to church because she is a nurse, but she is progressing very well! Had dinner at the Colliers (they had 10 kids too and are elderly so I see family pics and can see how our family will look haha, it is crazy). Also taught Bobby Cox and his wife the talkers :) They are awesome and doing good.

Friday- District meeting, which is always the best because you get to see people! It was fun to see everyone. We had subway for lunch and had some awesome trainings!! Also I got a blessing from Elder Castleberry, the Zone leader and it was awesome!!!

Taught the Annarummas who are doing well, one lesson was with all 4 kids and the mom which was good, and the second one was just Stacy and her one daughter. They are still doing well.

Saturday was awesome! Very busy but great lessons, we got a new investigator Raphael who is awesome and I am very excited about teaching him!!! Also Lisa, one of our investigators, is praying for a baptismal date! YAY.

Sunday! Primary program at church! It was awesome!! I loved it!!! The kids were darling and Jeff and Raphael were there so that was awesome! It was a good Sunday and we had dinner at Lisa and Ryans, the recent converts.

Awesome week of success I wish I could explain it all. Love you all so much and thank you for all the support! You guys are awesome!!

Week 9 (Nov 10, 2014)

WHAT A WEEK!! This week wasn't quite as it was planned but with our awesome ward, and realizing that everything works out, it was a pretty good week.

Monday- Went on a hike with a members, it was a little tougher haha.. But it was amazing views as always. Then I was able to try and get some things done. I am always so tired after studies, morning errands, and emailing so I took a nap, organized some things. Didn't get caught up on my journal.

So I am behind and don't have too much time and I am sure you guys don't know who I am talking about half the time anyway. Lets just say our buddy Josh we went to see ended up dropping us :( We taught with Fran twice and she almost dropped us but we were able to keep her! We didn't have the car from Wed-Fri. So we had to get rides from all the members. Way stressfull planning rides to all of our appts. and 2 days straight everything we planned they cancelled. In the end we were able to meet with Nathan who is a new investigator and is so sweet. and with some less actives! It was a good week in the end. Zone meeting was on Wednesday and it was fun seeing the whole zone. We played bump which I always love just getting to play a game and compete haha. Met with Lori the crack up I always talk about haha. Did some Tracting which is always great haha. and on Saturday we went to a Marine Birthday Bash where sister Ison sang the National Anthem! So that was sweet!!! It was cool and wayyy fancy I couldn't believe it. The guy that ran it is Paul who I have talked about before, he is awesome! We were able to talk to a few people about who we were of course :) Anyway, it was a pretty good week, just taught me that not everything always goes as planned and that it is all on the Lord's timing :)

Sunday- Woke up and wasn't in the best mood :) It was a rough time at church just for non-important reasons, and then we were able to teach the YW on how we know we are being converted. It was awesome being able to teach them and try and help them. Knowing I was just there and already thinking of things I wish I would have done, I loved being able to try and teach them. It was an awesome lesson and put me in a better mood. After church went and talked to varies ward members and it made me realize how AWESOME my ward is. They help so much. We had 11 member team ups for lessons this week. Anyway that made me more grateful as well. We went to the Relief Society leaders house for lunch. Taught a new investigator that went pretty good. We will see how that goes, his name is Mike! Also Lisa and Ryan were confirmed today and that was awesome to see them complete the covenant they had made last weekend. We went the another members for dinner, the Scheewes and she is the best cook!! We watched the CES Broadcast with the YSA (who consists of 6 people :/ ). It was a fun day!

Love you all. Miss you all. I am grateful for the ward members in my area and all they do for us misisonaries, I am grateful to be able to be out here and serve the Lord to help hasten the work. I am in an awesome area and am grateful for that. I hope you are all doing wonderful and know that I think about all of you!

Love,
Sister Farmer

Week 8? I lose track of the number (Nov 3, 2014)

Well what a week. Literally can't believe how much happened all in just a week and I wish I could explain it all. That is one of the hardest parts because I am all about my details in stories and I can't explain it all. It's hard haha.

Monday! Went on a hike to Looking Glass and Moore's with the sweetest member ever! Sis. Gomes. We ate lunch by a waterfall, so magical :) Went on a hike that was BEAUTIFUL. Some of which Hunger Games was filmed so you know I was freaking out :) SO tired and P-day was almost done and I still had so much to do. Dinner was at the Hood's and they are a way nice family. FHE was awesome and made me so happy! We had the coolest lesson on how pumpkins can represent a spiritual concept as well :) scriptures, open the lid/open your heart D&C 63:1, take the guts out/repentance, Alma 60:23, carving it/Heavenly Father is our "master carver" Isaiah 64:8 Light in the pumpkin, Christs light, Matthew5:16. Then we carved pumpkins. It was just what I needed and made me feel so at home. It was a tender mercy for sure.

Tuesday: Taught Frank (I always call him FROANK!) He is the nicest man. He always has a snack and I had the best pumpkin donut ever. Great lesson on callings in the church. Met with Lisa and Leah. Well Leah actually was going to work.. FUNNIEST moment ever. In "the hood." and Leah was in the middle of the road getting ready to leave, we went to talk with her for a minute and a car came up behind her.. They were honking, she turns around and yells "I hear you!" Then the lady says, I have to take my son, I don't have time for this!" (I thought of "Ain't nobody got time for that) Dinner at the Davies! He is the Stake Patriarch and there house was soo nice. It was awesome. Met with Nicole a new investigator and she is THE BEST. I am so excited for her and her darling son Julius. I am hoping things continue to go well.

Wednesday- Met with Rex and Adam and it went great! Rex prayed so that was a huge step and was very exciting! Met with Wiliam, and a few hrs later Ramiro. 2 of the nicest guys I have ever met! They are recent converts, Aug. 9.. Funny to think of what I was doing on August 9th! (Jami's reception) anyway they are brothers and doing awesome! Had a lesson with Julie, an older lady and it was our first lesson with her! Went awesome and have a return appt. She is 82 but seems interested! Did some PFT and that is always fun and awkward but I love it!

Thursday- Weekly planning day :) Also met with Fran for the first time. New investigator and also have a lot of hope for her in the future. Lesson went great and she seemed to really enjoy it. Dinner at the Curridens, he is in the Stake Presidency which is getting reorganized. I am excited to find that out. They are a great family. Went to meet Melvin. At 7 at night, pitch black, went to the wrong house, lead us to trailer park where you park your RV and we could not find it so we missed the appt. I was trying to stay positive but I was freaked out.

Friday! HALLOWEEN! So we left to District Meeting in the morning. P.S. I didn't ever mention I am the driver so that is fun :) The meeting was great! We went to Wendy's for lunch. Headed home and had to be in at 4 for safety precautions. We got back at 2:30.. So we got back and met with Ryan who is getting baptized tomorrow! He was doing great and we are excited for him. Went to meet with some investigators and they weren't home. And so we drove and met with our zone. Played Mophia which was awesome!! and this cup game. It was a lot of. Went back and had dinner at this Japanese restaurant where they cook everything in front of you! It was so cool. Investigator Paul and Melissa who I have talked about took us and that was way fun!! met with a less active and played banana grams with her. she is 22 and it was a great way to end the day!

Saturday. Awesome day! Woke up to snow! WHAT??? Had a baptism! Lisa and Ryan! So happy to see them decide to get baptized and make this change in their life. They are so great and it was a wayy good program. Taught the Annarummas and they are still progressing and then met with Angelica. She is Hispanic and her husband was there who also speaks Spanish. Luckily our sister we brought knew Spanish. It was a good lesson even though we couldn't teach much. Stake Conference was AWESOME. Adult Session our missions president spoke and his wife. Always great. he had all the missionaries come up and we stood in front of everyone while he was saying how much we loved the members. It was a really cool, spiritual experience. Shook Elder Russell M. Nelsons hand. TWICE. and he said Sister Farmer. Well this was the best/longest/most spiritual day ever! It was incredible to see an apostle of the Lord and hear him speak in person. I have been to conference but this just made it mean so much more to be, being on a mission and realizing the significance of what he really does and the revelation he receives.

Sunday- Stake Conference. Again Elder Nelson spoke and it was amazing. I wish I could explain it all but it wouldn't be the same. It was awesome. New Stake Presidency and our bishop is in it!!! So sad so now we will be getting a new bishop. Went to the Gomes for lunch. She is so sweet and lunch was delicious! We had a meeting with Lisa and Leah, a member Sis. Tucker took us and after it she said do you guys have dinner? Which we didn't so she took us to her house. Sweet potato pancakes! Very good and cutest family ever. She is so crafty and I love it! Did hour and a half of Personal Finding Time (PFT) which means tracting or OYM (opening your mouth) to anyone. So it was a brisk, windy evening but it was fun none the less. Met some great people and one potential with a return appointment so excited to see what happens with her.

AWESOME week. Long, but great! I love the gospel and the opportunity I have to teach others.
Love you all miss you more than you know! Your support is awesome.

Love,

Week 7!!

This has been a crazy/pretty good week! Soo I remember being home reading missionaries letters and seeing some that were like novels and I didn't always read them because they were too long. So I am sure that is how you all feel. I will try and cut them down and tell you about the funny, cool stories instead of everyone :)

Monday, after we emailed we did the same thing we usually do and shopped. Went out to Papa's and Beer, a Mexican Restaurant with the Relief Society President to say bye to Sis. Paxton. We came home and I got some productive things done for an hour and it was time because I am so busy during the week it gets so cluttered on my desk. Then we headed to the Stake Assembly Building (SAB) where the whole zone of missionaries meet to hang out the last P-day before transfers. It was way fun! We played this game like kick ball that was alright. Then I just shot a little bit, juggled a soccer ball, and threw a football. It was fun to see everyone! We headed home and went to a darling/classy southern restaurant called Tupelo Honey. It was very good! I had a rosemary/peach lemonade and they had biscuits with honey for the appetizer. I got a sweet potato, cinnamon pancake with pecans on top and it was very good! I was so full! We had FHE at the Krugers and we read some scriptures on Christ and talked about that. It was a fun FHE.

Tuesday- Saying bye day. We went and taught darling 87 year old Juna Pat Spivey. She has learned everything and knows what is needed just doesn't know if she really wants to get baptized so we aren't sure what to do with her haha. We had lunch at a place called JK's Kitchen with one of my favorites Frank! I got pancakes, eggs, and bacon :) We are eating out soo much since they are all saying bye to Sis. Paxton haha. Said bye to some others and then we went to dinner at the Hobsons. It was a "southern meal" for before Sis. Paxton leaves and yea.. It was this roast meat burger, spicy salad. Funny story though because I ate a doughnut for dessert and then was getting ice cream. Right when I was about to scoop some into my bowl it slid into Sis. Paxtons water. It was hilarious! We had 2 more goodbyes/lessons and that was that day. Last night with Sis. Paxton :( We always had night talks before bed and I will miss those SO much. But she had an awesome mission and it is time for her to go home.

Wednesday: TRANSFERS. Drove to Knoxville at 9:00 am (2 and a half hr drive) got there and took a last picture with Sis. Paxton. Saw a MTC elder so we talked for a little bit. I didn't think I would see anyone from the MTC so that was fun. I was looking for Elder Livingston and... I FOUND HIM! haha. It was soo fun seeing him. It was also so strange to think we were on our missions but seeing each other. During the meeting we weren't by each other. GREAT/sad meeting. It was funny being there seeing the new missionaries coming in and I was just remembering how I felt 6 weeks ago in their shoes. It was great being on the other side of things this time. Our president and his wife were very emotional because it was their first transfer where they actually knew a lot of people leaving, especially one of his assistants who has been helping him since he got there. After the meeting I talked with a sister that knows Aunt Jane :) Went and talked with James for a little bit and then he had to go.. Hopefully I'll see him again later on in the mission. Said bye to Sis. Paxton which was very sad :( then we were on our way! Ate at a place called Zaxbys, pretty good. Drove back and had one appointment at 7:00. First one as a companionship and I think it went pretty good! It was with Lisa who is getting baptized next Saturday. She is awesome and I am so excited for her.

Thursday: Pretty good day! Lesson with Rex and Adam and Adam said the opening prayer which is huge because he never has so that was exciting! Went to meet with a less active and she wasn't home so we OYM (open your mouth) talk to anyone basically and Sis. Ison loves doing that. It will be good for me because I do not like it :) We met a nice guy named Demetrik. Cute 4 year old son and he seems great! We are hoping to meet with him next week. Right after we finish with him the less active pulled up! Taught her and it was good. Met with the Annarummas! It was an hour and a half lesson but the boys weren't there so the mom, who is the one who isn't sure on baptism, was actually sitting and paying attention! It went really well. Our dinner appointment cancelled but still made it just left it on the door step. So came home from the lesson to a pretty great dinner sitting at the door. Potatoes, french bread, salad, meat, and this delicious chocolate bunt cake thing. Went and did some personal finding time (PFT) which is either tracting or OYM. My least favorite things but president, who knows what he is talking about, has asked everyone to try and get 2 hrs a DAY! So that is one of our goals for this transfer to find new people. Went and met with Bobby and Sandy Cox. they talk ALOT. We got a short lesson in on obedience and listening to the prophet. It was a pretty good day!

Friday- District meeting. A sweet young ward member drove us, Sister Milton. So we got to know her. She is awesome. The District meeting was great and I had to give a short little training on Christ-Like attributes. For our role play we had to teach our zone leaders and each companion talked for 30 seconds and they would say switch, and the other companion would go. That was for a total of 3 minutes. It was kind of fun actually and like a game! I enjoyed it. Went to zaxbys again... Met with Ryan who is getting baptized in a week. So that is great! Met with an Investigator Nicole and I am very excited to see how things go with her!

Saturday- Missionary life is embarrassing. We went to Office Depot and were stalking a guy named Clarinece. Someone had met him and gave us his number as a person to met with, we call and it was a fake number. hilarious. So we go to his job to find him. All we knew was he is young and African american. We saw one and were watching him for like 3 minutes. I was so embarrassed. Anyway we go to "buy a dollar item." and see his name tag is josh so I quickly say it's not him but we go anyway. It ended up being fine and he is pretty cool! We are hoping to meet with him this week haha. There was a ward "Shin-dig" a southern dance and we went it was quite funny!

Sunday- Had Baptismal interviews for Ryan and Lisa. They are getting Baptized Saturday and I can't wait! We met with 2 less actives and got a new investigator!

Sorry I ran out of time because it was a little shorter time today. But I am sure you all think this is long enough. :) I love you all and miss you! We are doing lots of tracting and OYM so pray for me because I do not love doing that :) Also Russel M. Nelson will be at Stake Conference this week I am so excited!!!

Week 6--- Transfer week

Well the time has sadly come.. Sister Paxton one of my trainers is leaving me :( She goes home to Utah on Wednesday! I will not be transferred and will be staying in Asheville, NC with Sister Ison my other Trainer. I am excited to go to transfers, even though I am sad she is leaving, because Elder James Livingston will be there!!! Yay.

As for this week:

Monday after email we went to Downtown Asheville which I was excited about because it is suppose to be pretty crazy. It was fun! It kind of reminded me of Seattle area just not as nice. There were lots of stores we walked around town and looked around. There were lots of hippies and it was quite the adventure. I got an Asheville shirt and a vintage deck of captain america cards. It was fun to see what everyone is talking about the crazy town of Asheville. There were lots of shirts saying "Keep Asheville Weird." We saw a huge singing place called the Orange Peel which is suppose to be big? After that we had dinner at a members house, the Workman's who are an older couple and recently turned in their mission papers. We had a pretty good dinner except... Some Cordon Game Hen? I don't know that was a fancy way they called it but basically half of a hen cooked and if you know me with my meat.. I can't handle that. I about died when I saw that. We each had our own half to take apart and eat. I had to like grab a wing and try and break it. Man it was quite the dinner. I survived though. FHE was fun, we just talked about prophets and it was like a group discussion. Fun day.

Tuesday we had another Zone Meeting. It was fun to see our whole zone and I met with my stake president again. He's awesome. As our zone activity we played basketball and I was playing with a girl that didn't really know how to guard, no other sisters wanted to play and the point guard kept passing to me at the bottom of the hoop and I would score haha. We played bump too and I am never good at free throws but I was doing good and made it to the last 2 twice. It was a lot of fun. We met with an Investigator Paul, he is the nicest guy and he introduced us to his nephew Thain. Nice guy. We talked about the BOM and Paul has just started reading it which is huge because he never has before and has been meeting with the missionaries for like 2 years. He asks lots of questions and Sis. Paxton always knows how to answer it so I am nervous what will happen when she leaves haha. We had dinner at the Anderson's, 4 little boys and they are the nicest family! I love there family. We went to meet with a Less Active, who we have never met, and it was the last TWO hours of the day. SOO long and she loved to talk.

Wednesday: Met with some less actives Rex and Adam, I think I have talked about them before, sorry it's hard to remember who I have told you about and who I haven't. They are doing good, met with Kathy and Kiel, Investigators. We watched the David A. Bednar talk from this conference and it was just what they needed because I think they were feeling a little overwhelmed with us. Anyway things are going great with them. We had dinner at a members, the Racers. Sweet older couple and they are soo nice. Met with Lisa and Leah, Leah is a Recent Convert and Lisa is her mom who is investigating. It was an awesome lesson and Lisa I am hoping will get baptized. She has some concerns with her boyfriend but I am hoping.

Thursday: Met with Frank, and Cosette. I think I have talked about them, both Less Actives and are AWESOME people. I love them. Fratilappnk brought us Eclairs to our lesson which were super good. We had great lessons with both of them, talked about different things than what we had planned but were very spirit lead. Great lessons. Dinner with Lori, my very first appointment when I got to Asheville. She is hilarious! But for dinner I had Tilapia, FISH. I do not like fish. Because like the chicken thing I can't eat food when I know it is an animal. That probably makes no sense but I just don't like it. I ate it and survived but did not enjoy it. Met a new investigator, Nicole. Cutest little son and they seem like a great family! I am excited for the future with them!

Friday: Met with good old Bobby Cox. He calls me Tater after potatoes from Idaho. It is pretty funny. He LOVES to talk. I just laugh because he goes on and on and on about stories and we hardly get a lesson in. He is great though. Met Larry Owenby. He invented the M & M machines where you put a quarter in and get something? He is a crack up and lovessss sister Paxton. He is very kind and it was fun meeting him. He reads the BOM and loves Mormons but doesn't come to church so not much can be done there. He is funny. Met with Ramiro and Wiliam, great people as always! Met with Ken Penley, a Recent Convert who was investigating for TEN YEARS. Crazy. But he is awesome and I love meeting with him because he just teaches me basically. He has great ways of putting things.

Saturday: Out of our 3 appointments today TWO cancelled :( It was still a good day. We got to see a baptism of one of the people Sister Paxton taught in her last area. It was cool to be able to see a baptism and really get a feel for how it will be when I get to that point with someone we're teaching. It was cool. We had dinner at the Ettieres. Brother Ettiere is probably the funniest guy I have ever met. He says the best things and I love eating at their house. It was great. Then the most disappointing part of my week :( JEFF. We met with him and he moved so we drove to his new address and it was up a curvy mountain and I swear it took 20 minutes! We made it and we didn't have time to go back to the church so we met with him in the car... HAHA. So he was going through some pretty crazy hard stuff in his life and so he was emotional. I thought it was this great spiritual lesson. After he leaves Sis. Paxton, and Ison are like man! and I was wondering what they meant. Apparently he was high and was under the influence so he probably wouldn't remember anything. He is still an investigator but not progressing anymore. It was sad.

Sunday: Church was good! Nothing crazy happened this week, I wish something like singing in front of everyone happened but it didn't. We had 6 investigators at church: Kathy, Kiel, Lisa, Lisa (leah's mom), Pat, and Joe Gomes. It was a successful day at church. Had cinnamon rolls for lunch :), We met with an investigator, had dinner at the nelsons, one of my favorite families! They are awesome. and it was a pretty good day!

These last 2 weeks because it was Sis. Paxton's birthday and she is leaving we have had so many dinner meals, treats, and lunch! I am dying with all the food! It is good, but I am going to be huge after all of this! It was a great week and met with lots of people.

Missions are hard. Way harder than people let on or tell you but I know that it will all be worth it and teaching people about the gospel is the best thing I can be doing right now.

Well I miss you all so much and hope you are all doing well!

Love,

Downtown Asheville

Also this is a little soap shop and it is by the honor system! He just has it open and you leave the money in there for him! I can't believe the south are that trusting haha.
Second picture! Aparently I didn't realize Caleb Johnson, most recent winner of American Idol, lives in Asheville! We were at a car shop and met this husband and wife, I saw this poster and asked about it. Turns out the husband went to Hollywood with Calebs dad and they are neighbors! I was shocked of course haha. Also one of the members in our ward has swimming with his brothers, and Calebs dad is the life guard! It was a funny fact to learn.

Week 5

Hello everyone!

Monday: FLEW BY. I emailed, grocery shopped and then I'm a week behind in journal and have a bunch of people to write so I was going to do that. I came home and after emailing and doing errands I like to take a nap. It was only 45 min. But I ended up only having 1 hr for my to-do list and then we had to plan out FHE activity so that was a bummer. I didn't get hardly anything done. FHE was good though. we had a matching game of prophets. There name on one card and a drawing on the other. Once we found the match we would read the story in the scriptures. It was awesome! Dinner was at a members house, The Hardy's and they both graduated from Yale. He wrote a book about the book of mormon that is in paragraph form so it is easier to read? It's suppose to be pretty popular so that is cool! Good day just not a lot done.

Tuesday: Delivered cookies to neighbors and less actives, they looked like spiders it was cute. We went to meet with a less active and were lost so we asked some construction workers and they told us where we were. We went to give the cookies to the lady and she wasn't home. So we decided to give them to the construction workers for helping us, I rolled down the window and was giving it to one. There was a pass a long card on it with our number. I said thanks for helping us but he could hardly hear because of the chainsaw in the back ground. Anyway, 5 minutes later we get a text: "Thanks for the cookies." another text "Hey you ladies want to come hang out tonight?" then another random number, "hey it's tim, I gave you guys directions. Thanks for the cookies." Anyway it was HILARIOUS. because our phone started blowing up. We had to sadly disappoint and say we are missionaries and would love to set up an appointment to teach haha. It was funny.

Wednesday we met with a recent convert who is having a really hard time. She just wanted to talk about normal everyday stuff to distract her. Apparently she was in the Olympics of 1972 in the swimming event. Her name is Mary Montgomery, look her up! So I felt pretty cool talking with her. We also had dinner at a members house and had something called Briscuit? A type of meat. I don't know what it is but it was really good! They are a great family.

Thursday we met with this guy named John Taylor, he is less active and it was my first time meeting with him. He is CRAZY but hilarious. Literally words can't describe him. We hardly got a lesson in because he kept jumping up and down and was so happy but couldn't sit still. We thought he might be on drugs or something or just very happy who knows. Also we went to meet Jessie the lady that looks like my cousin Molly and she wasn't home when we had scheduled it :( Such a bummer!! I was sad. We went to a members for dinner and they made cake pops for my companion Sis. Paxton because it was her Birthday yesterday. They were delicious! She also gave us a ton of clothes and skirts so that was awesome haha. Great family!

Friday: Had district meeting and I had to give a training on Faith so basically a lesson. It went well I think, people said it was anyway :) It was about 15 minutes. They also got a cake for sis. Paxton a cake so more cake haha. We had little Cesar's pizza. It was fun! We also met with the cutest 87 year old named Juna Pat Spivey. She is soo cute, has the best accent, and I just love meeting with her. We met with Ann Woody an Investigator and she took us around the Biltmore Estate grounds. We walked around there and talked and just got to know her. We went and saw the Estate but couldn't go inside. It is HUGE and so pretty! The trees here are so crazy! Love it!

Saturday nothing crazy happened. Just taught our normal recent converts and such. Also some investigators took us out to dinner for Sis. Paxtons birthday and it was a place called the Black Forest, it's a German restaurant, and Italian so I got Chicken Picatta. Pretty good! They are the nicest people! I love them. We also got dessert and I got this caramel custard thing. SO many desserts this weekend it is not good. But also I love it I am just going to gain 20 pounds.

Sunday: Sis. Paxtons birthday. It was great! I tried to make her day great. We had Testimony meeting, where you share what you personally believe and tell the whole congregation. I bore mine and Sis. Paxton did as well. Also an investigator Ryan, went up and bore his testimony and then said, "Sis. Paxton was a little shy and didn't want to admit that it was her birthday... Starts singing, Happy Birthday to you!" the ward started joining in and a member or the bishopric got up and said to stop very nicely haha. It was HILARIOUS!!! It was a good Sunday and we were able to teach Jeff. The lesson went well and we hope it continues to go well. We finished the day at a members, the Hargadons. Spaghetti and delicious cake. It was a great day and I think she had an awesome birthday!

Love you all soo much and miss you. Thanks for all the support. I love getting emails and letters. Sorry if it takes me a while to respond. I do try to write back fast. Sorry for punctuation errors and for it being so long.. I hope you are all doing well. Thanks again and until next week!

Love,

Pictures: Last district meeting so that was our picture. They are crazy haha

Sister Paxton's birthday yesterday. So fun!

Week 4!

Well another week has come and gone.. My cousin said days feel like weeks and weeks feel like days. Seriously the days are soo long and I feel like they never end but then it's P-day again and I'm like wow that was fast..

Anyway this was a crazy week..

Monday was rough. Lets just say that. I have been pretty homesick and not really wanting to be here, like all missionaries I'm sure you are all thinking. Anyway I talked to all my fam on email and it was just a longg rough day. We were in the apartment and yea it was rough. FHE was good. It was about receiving personal revelation from General Conference (2 times a year where the prophet of the church and apostles teach and it is broadcasting all around the world). It was a rough day but I survived.

Tuesday again was a rough day and I didn't enjoy that until about 4:30 and then things got a little better. We taught Ramiro, this awesome recent convert who is the nicest! Sis. Paxton was teaching piano so it was just Sis. Ison and I but it went well. Dinner was alright.. I had green beans, sweet potatoes, luckily there was brown sugar so I drowned it in that, and then noodles with white sauce on it. Anyway I swallowed it down :) We then taught Lisa and that lesson was really good. I could feel the spirit and she was telling us her story of her, and ryan who is 25 and has Aspergers, and it was good to hear there story because I got to know them better. They both have baptism dates for Nov. 1st. Connor and Savannahs was our last appointment and they are always a fun time. So I survived through the day!

Wednesday-Friday: Lots of appointments, filled schedule, and lots of cancels... :( Seriously most of our appointments cancelled but we were able to fill it with other things and people so it worked out. Nothing new with our investigators. We haven't met with Jeff this week.. We may have to push back out Bap. (Baptism) date.

Saturday was good! We went to Investigators Kathy and Kiel and watched the first session of General Conference that was great! She gave us a super cute halloween box with decorations and checkers which I was very excited about! We had dinner which was chili (It wasn't too bad..) and then apple pie! We talked with them in between conference and they have a baptism date for Oct. 18 but we weren't sure where they were at so we talked it out and they are still very interested, they are just waiting for her husband to come back to make any steps so we will just have to wait for him to come back, the next session we watched at a members and it was fun. We then went to dinner with the Hedgecocks! That was awesome. She is the sweetest mom andddd they have 8 kids. 6 girls and 2 boys. oldest is 12 so it was so fun to see how it would look like my house growing up haha. I loved the crazyness. We then had a meeting at the sanchez. Funniest story! We show up and the back light of the trailer is on and we see a shadow of a head. we turn our car light off and the head moves from the window and then a few seconds later the light turns off.. We knock on the door and no one answers haha. Soo yea that was funny.

Sunday Was an awesome day! We watched conference and had lunch at a members in between and then another session of conference. Then we went home to get a ward list and met this sweet mom La Donna and her 11 year old son Diego with Cerebral Palsy. THEY ARE AWESOME. I loved them and they are great. They are in our neighborhood and are going to meet them this week hopefully. i love them though. We then had dinner a members and it was a classic barbecue, chips, and cupcake like at home so that was great. We then followed up on a referral (something we get like an address and stuff to go teach or talk to them) and they are the cutest family as well. Young mom and dad. with a darling daughter Emerson. We are meeting with the mom on Thursday and I am hoping things work out with them because they are awesome. She remind me of my cousin Molly Farmer. So cute and sweet. It was a great ending to the week. Lots to look forward to for this upcoming week.

Conference was awesome. There were a lot of common themes that I found: Prophets, Agency, Personal Revelation, and doing the little things (prayer, scriptures, family prayer). If you didn't get a chance to watch conference I would encourage you guys to :) and if you don't know what that is, look it up on lds.org! You can watch it. One you guys should look up is by David A. Bednar!! It was great. There were many others that I loved but that is the one I would for sure recommend. :)

I am so happy to be out on a mission serving the Lord. It is definitely hard but I know that it is what I should be doing right now. I am already learning so much and love teaching others. I am so grateful for the gospel in my life and to be able to share it with others.

Good old Jazzercise class today. Soo funny. Old ladies there moving it! I didn't love it

I got a pkg from my family at home and it was fall decorations. So happy to decorate a little like home. Cupcake stuff not pictured
Well I was happy to see on the menu some Idaho Mashed Potatoes :)

Got a package from my sisters in Provo. loved it! Letters from them and friends and I am going to be fat

Week 3?? Crazy

Well this was the longest hardest week haha.

This is going to be a shorter one because I don't have much time :)

Monday we had dinner with the bishop and his family. It was delicous, potatoes, french bread, and ice cream. I loved it. There family is great! They all sang after dinner and man do they have good voices haha! I was DYING. The dad especially had such a great voice. Anyway we then had our FHE group that people come, we taught a lesson on talents and then played a get to know you game. It was fun. P-Day we also went to a frozen yogurt place called Ya-Ya's that was delicious.

This week we had a lot of people cancel their appointments but we were able to fill it with finding other people which was great! We met this 76 year old African american lady that was so sweet, she loves the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and so we all sang with her after, she has a great voice! We sang How Great Thou Art! the end when she was singing her dog literally started howling! SO funny.

Another lesson we taught was to Savannah and Connor, both 18 and have a little 8 month old Elinor. They are so fun. Connor is a Recent Convert and Savannah has always been a member but has been off and on. they are active now and doing great! He has this AMAZING voice I recorded and he is going to try out for americas got talent so that is cool haha. Also is brother is trying out and, apparently good, for the North Carolina B-Ball team?? Spencer Daulton?? Is this real. I thought it was cool. We taught him about the Priesthood because he is going to get it soon.

This last 5 days all of our member meals we had set up were cancelled! SO I have been eating like toast and cereal haha. I NEED a home cooked meal. So last night I tried making something, toast with butter and then put mozzarella cheese on top, make noodles with butter and then put mozzarella cheese over the noodles, put that all in the oven and cooked it for a little bit. I mean I have had better but I thought it was better than having pancakes, which I had for lunch.

We taught a lesson to Jeff and it went great!! I invited him to be baptized on Oct. 25th and he accepted! So that was great. He still has a lot to fix but I know he will be able to do it!

Thursday we had Zone Meeting and so I met new people. One guy from Nampa! He is way nice!! The lesson was great and then we were able to talk with our mission president which was awesome!! He is the best and helped me a lot. I am having a tough time and he was able to recognize that so that helped. Also for our activity we watched the Meet the Mormons movie coming out! It was actually really good! I loved it. Comes out in a couple of weeks.

Saturday we went to dinner with a guy named Paul and his Wife Melissa. They love Sister Paxton. Anyway we went to this place called cheddars which was delicious and I got chicken Alfredo!  It was very good. We then went to DQ. talk about gaining weight.. holy cow!! They are awesome and soo nice! Also he is like a way good football player! Played at North Carolina, all american?? and played on like a marine team. super cool. anyway they are great. We then went and watched the womens conference! it was very good and I loved it!!!

Sunday was just a normal day, sacrament was very very good. People cancelled appt. but we were able to fill it.

It is now another P-Day. This has been the hardest week by far. I love and thank all of you for your support and prayers. Thanks!
